Who I Post To Be

[Original post 1.29.2020]

Hey friends! Hope you are all full of light and love currently.

I wanted to check in and share a couple things with ya’ll. I’ve been having a lot of conversations with friends lately (I’m still forcing myself to get back to my extrovert ways). In two conversations with longtime friends they both mentioned to me that the felt like I was holding myself back in my writing. They’ve both known me for 7+ years. The convos have left me inside my head for the last week or so and I keep asking myself one question: Who am I posting to be?

I think it’s pretty safe to say that a good chunk of people are into social media. There are so many different ways to use it and many different perspectives on whether it is a good tool or not. Let’s face it, most people are not posting their failures and shortcomings. Simply put, we’re seeing their highlight reel.

People that do tend to post their realities are often ridiculed for just showing their emotions. We’re told “Don’t put all your business on social media” and “Not everyone is going to be happy for you so keep certain happy moments to yourself”. Well I say, fuck that! Use your freedom of speech! Share or don’t share as much as you want. People are going to judge you no matter what so you may as well be authentically you, whoever that is.

That leads me back to my original question; who am I posting to be?

In case you’re not an avid reader of mine, at the end of each blog post I try to leave on a positive note. I could have just been posting about crying my eyes out but I’m going to leave you with a good word & a smile honey! I do it purposely. I want whoever reads my posts to know that no matter what is happening in your life, there’s always a brighter day coming. Yes, sometimes that cloudy days seem as though they’re hovering over us FOREVER, but as I’ve told you before, always look for the sun! It’s there and better days are coming. You just have to hold on (or ask someone to throw you a lifejacket).

Simply put, I am posting to be the positive person that I truly am, even on the days when I’m a Negative Nancy. Shoutout to my amazing mom, Bertha Maude for giving me my positive outlook. (And yes that’s her real name.)

Until next time; Be YOU. Do YOU. LOVE YOU💜
