Follow Your Own Advice
[Original post 11.1.2019]
Think about how often you're giving out advice to people. Most of us go through a lot of the same situations but under different circumstances. You have friends, siblings, co-workers that will ask your opinion on a situation from time to time. How many of us actually follow the advice we've given to others?
Now, I'm not saying that you always give good advice and you don't need to consult with others. I'm just saying, take your own advice into consideration before getting it from someone else. Only YOU know what's best for you (in most cases).
The reason I wanted to talk about this today is because I suck ass at following my own advice a lot of the time. I was starting to do good and then the last few weeks, I've just been in a funk. So much so that I haven't even been giving advice to anyone else either.
This week I've been really quiet. Mainly because my misery does not like company, but also because I've been doing a lot of talking to God and talking to myself. I don't care what anyone says, talking to yourself is healthy. You need to tell yourself positive affirmations (aloud)! You need to speak your blessings into existence! You need to uplift yourself at the end of a hard day! You need to forgive yourself!
So here's what I plan to do to make sure I follow my own advice:
GIVE MYSELF MORE GRACE
If I can give others grace for their indiscretions, why can't I do the same for myself? (Fun fact, my first name actually means grace.)
PRAY MORE THAN I HAVE BEEN
I talk to God a lot but I need to pray more and pray with more purpose. I told someone a few weeks back that he needed to pray for specifics but I realize that I had stopped doing so. It's time to get back in track!
GET MORE REST
I've been on the go so much lately because I've been trying to force myself to get back around people and enjoy outings as much as I use to. Truthfully, I've been overdoing it and it's probably the main reason why I've been so low on energy. I have got to start saying no or asking people to come see me instead of feeling bad if I don't drive to see them because I don't have kids yet.
Bottom line is this: I need to listen to myself more and follow my intuitions, and I'm sure that you do too!
Until next time; Be You. Do You. LOVE YOU 💜
